It is highly recommended for people having cardiac issues and related health ailments that have sprung out and adds one more killer benefit to its list. Several studies have proved that fish oil consumption may reduce the risk of developing breast cancer. It is one of the best breast cancer prevention tips.

According to experts, regular intake of fish oils can significantly reduce a person’s risk of developing breast cancer. After over 21 different prospective cohort studies, researchers found out that high intake of fish oil and marine n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids are linked with a gradual 14% decreased risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women. They also recommend that eating fish such as salmon, sardine or tuna once or twice a week is good for prevention of breast cancer. N-3 PUFAs are all omega 3 fatty acids have to be consumed through the diet, as they cannot be synthesized by the body. They include Alpha Linolenic acid (ALA), Docosapentaenoic acid (DPA), Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).These essential fatty acids play an important role in regulation of blood and brain’s chemical messaging. Oily fish provides DPA, EPA and DHA whereas nuts and leafy vegetables provide ALA.

Research on Breast Cancer

Chinese researcher’s accesses the link between the intake of fish and n-3 PUFA. The risk factors of breast cancer have been analyzed by results of 26 different international studies.

The team analyzed data on more than 20,000 cases of breast cancer and approximately 8, 00,000 participants. Comparing the lowest and highest intake of marine n-3 PUFA, the team analyzed that high consumption of marine n-3 was associated with a 14% decreased risk of breast cancer.

They also believed that for every 0.1g/day increase in the intake of   n-3 PUFA from fish, the risk of breast cancer probability reduced by 5%. However, the plant based n-3 PUFA i.e. ALA, seemed to have no anti-cancer properties. Breast cancer treatment is feasible and the researchers have stated that their result supports a protective role of marine n-3 fatty acids on the incidence of breast cancer.

Modern Day Treatment and Studies

They concluded that “Our present study provides solid evidence that marine n-3 PUFA’s are inversely associated with breast cancer risk. The protective effect of individual n-3 PUFA or fish warrants further investigation of prospective studies.” A journal of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and a report in Cancer Epidemiology similarly identified that fish oil supplements may play a role in the prevention of breast cancer.

A study by Emily White from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre, suggested that regular consumption of fish oil supplements which contain high levels of EPA and DHA omega 3 fatty acids was linked with a 32% reduced risk of invasive ductal breast cancer which is the most common type. One has to make sure about the servings of oily fish like sardines, tuna or salmon per week or you can opt for fish oil supplements that contain high levels of omega 3 fatty acids EPA and DHA for preventing breast cancer.

That primary cause of breast cancer is due to excess milk stored in after the baby is weaned. Breast glands do not know exactly when a baby will stop drinking milk, so breast glands keeps on producing milk making it ready for the next suckling. When it is not sucked out (i.e. when the baby stops drinking for a long time) after few months its rotten and finds it way in lower parts of breasts the so called ‘lumps’, this process takes a longer period.

The interesting fact is the prevention method an “adult suckling”. Definitely it helps for two reasons. The adult sucking is more power, more communicative, till the last drop. While it sends in a message “get ready” , this makes the woman’s body get back to normal, especially to stop producing excess milk. Interesting….
