Start the breastfeeding to your baby immediately right after she or he born. Breastfeed should be after every two hours. Even if the flow of the breast milk generally appears to be slow or completely blocked, keep on trying. The more you try to get the hang of it in the first 7 to 10 days, the easier will it get for you.

Breastfeeding to your baby after you have a nice warm bath improves the milk flow.

Firstly ask for privacy when you need to breast feed your baby in public. If you are uncomfortable, stressed on in the middle of too much noise, your baby won’t be able to get the feed properly.

Never delay your baby’s feeding time just because your baby is not at all crying for the feed. Making a feeding routine now helps a lot in the long run. Crying is the last and final sign of hunger. Early things may include one or more of these activities: Your baby generally starts to push out her tongue; lick her lips; bring her hand near her mouth; lick her hand; or open her mouth in left and right directions.

Always change the diaper before starting the feed. The newborn babies take the feed better when they are wearing a clean and dry diaper.

Put the areola inside your baby’s mouth along with the nipple. Your baby’s tongue movement on the areola is said to create a stimulus to fasten up the flow of the milk. Putting only the nipple will end up making your nipples sorer and they will eventually bleed.  Remember that in first few weeks breastfeeding is not supposed to cause you pain and discomfort, when you are new to this art.

Make sure you keep yourself clean. It is advised to wash your hands and wipe the breast region with a damp cloth before and after each breast feeding session. Sometimes carelessness on your part could be the reason behind your little one’s health issues.

Sterilization is not just for formula feeding mums, but it is also for breastfeeding mums who use breastfeeding accessories such as breast pump and breast shields, etc.

Also, your breast milk may slightly have the taste of the food you intake. So make sure you do not eat anything too spicy or anything with a very strong flavor. This is one of those important breastfeeding tips that many mothers tend to ignore. Like adults, babies can also sense flavor, and may not like it. DON T forgets to wear breast pads. You may think you won’t need them, but you will. The disposable ones are handy, but the washable ones are wonderful! Still don t like the thought of breast pads? Hope you’re comfortable with wearing a jacket to cover up when your milk comes in.

DON T forget to let baby nurse one full side before switching sides. The hind milk (or end of the feeding milk) has a higher fat and calorie content for baby. Make sure to use the other side first for the next feeding to keep things balanced so to speak. If the other side is really uncomfortable you can pump and freeze to relieve some of the pressure.

DON T buy a cheap, ineffective breast pump.  It has a higher price tag but will last you through all your children. Is saving a little money worth 2 hours of hand-pumping? I think not.

DON T let your baby sleep through regular feedings. Most newborns nurse every 2 hours. A little bit of gentle stimulation should work to rouse them to eat. Waiting to nurse can make you very sore, it can also decrease your milk supply.

DON T give up! You might want to throw in the nursing bra and grab a bottle, but hang in there! Some moms get it on the first try, but most take a week or so to get going. Be confident, try to stay calm. Babies can sense stress and that can lead to frustration in getting correct latching on techniques.

Breastfeeding may seem easier as an observer and also very difficult when you start it. However, within two weeks you will get the hang of it and then soon you will be giving new moms breastfeeding tips. Breast feeding is treasured experienced with your child, there is nothing to be fear.
