Canadian researchers carried an observational study based on the information from the large scale Canadian Multicentre Osteoporosis Study, a previous study in which 9,033 Canadian’s health was monitored between 1995 and 2007. During that period, 1,160 subjects died.

To this point, Dr. David Goltzman, lead author of the study, the director of the Calcium Research Laboratory at McGill University in Montreal, said that the benefit was observed in women who took 1,000 mg of calcium per day.
