Health Benefits Of Arjuna Herb?

There are several health arjun tree benefits. Here we have jotted down a few common health benefits.

Improves High Blood Pressure

The best home remedies for hypertension or high blood pressure should include Arjuna herb. High blood pressure is an immensely serious medical condition that can cause a heart failure, stroke, coronary heart disease(CHD), heart attack, kidney failure and other serious health problems.

The most common symptoms of high blood pressure include severe headache, nausea, vomiting, confusion, vision changes and nose bleeds.

Improves High Blood Pressure

The bark of Arjuna that is high in Coenzyme Q10 has long been utilized in Ayurvedic medicine for high blood pressure. Coenzyme Q10 is a catalyst in the transportation and production of energy that is immensely required for normal functioning of the important organs.

It also protects the heart against damage caused by LDL cholesterol oxidation. The liver and the heart have the highest demands for Coenzyme Q10 because of the nature of these two organ’s functions.

Coenzyme Q10 gradually depletes with age, and as we reach fifties, the heart muscles become weaker resulting in palpitations and high blood pressure. Meanwhile, the LDL becomes extremely oxidized to act properly.

Therefore, it builds up in the artery walls blocking the walls and raising the blood pressure further. Supplementation of Coenzyme Q10 is required to improve heart functions and lower high blood pressure.

Helps Protect The Heart

The best Ayurvedic herbs for heart disease should include Arjuna. Heart attack is the biggest killer in modern times. CHD (coronary heart disease) is a serious condition in which a waxy substance called plaque builds up inside of the coronary arteries.

The arteries supply oxygen-rich blood to your heart. Cardiovascular diseases killed 18.4 million men and women in 2012 that is 3 in every 10 deaths. Of these, 6.9 million people died of ischaemic heart disease and 7.1 million from stroke.

Helps Protect The Heart

Arjuna herb seems to be the best herb for the heart health. Arjuna extract has been shown to be an immensely powerful antioxidant protecting the heart from the oxidation.

The anti-platelet aggregation and anticoagulant action keeps the blood thin, and lowers the levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) while enhancing HDL (good cholesterol). It also has hypotensive, cardioprotective, and anti-inflammatory activities.

In a recent scientific study, Arjuna extract has shown to reverse the damage to the heart muscle.  Its blood thinning abilities are comparable to those of heparin and aspirin. It has also been administered in bleeding disorders, which means it has adaptogen actions as well.

Reduces The Chance Of Breast Cancer

The best Ayurvedic remedies for breast cancer should include Arjuna herb. Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that primarily begins in the cells of your breast.

A malignant tumor is a group of cancer cells that can slowly grow into surrounding tissues or spread to distant portions of the human body.

Breast cancer occurs almost entirely in women, but men can get it, too. There are two main types of breast cancer: Lobular carcinoma and Ductal carcinoma.

Reduces The Chance Of Breast Cancer

Ductal carcinoma begins in the tubes that usually carry milk from the breast to the nipples. Most breast cancers are of this type.  Lobular carcinoma begins in the area of the breast, called lobules, which produce milk.

A substance in Arjuna herb, casuarinin inhibits the breast cancer cell growth in recent laboratory studies. Casuarinin is an ellagitannin.

It is mainly found in the pericarp of pomegranates. It is also found in Stachyurus species, Casuarina and Alnus Sie Bol Diana. It is an isomer of Casu Arictin. It is an active carbonic anhydrase inhibitor.

DNA Protection

Arjuna has compounds that protect against DNA damage from toxins. Toxins are substances mainly created by animals and plants that are extremely poisonous to humans.

Toxins include medications that are helpful in small doses, but poisonous when used in huge amounts. Many toxins that cause problems in persons are released by the germs such as bacteria. Cholera is due to a bacterial toxin.

DNA Protection

Several Other toxins that cause problems include metals, like lead and organic chemicals in the environment. Effect of Terminalia Arjuna extract on adriamycin-induced DNA damage. Recent scientific results demonstrate that bark extract of Arjuna protects DNA against adriamycin induced damage.

Antioxidant Activity

According to a recent scientific study, Arjuna bark extracts exhibit antioxidant activity and protects the organs and body cells from the harmful effects of the free radicals. Free radicals are mainly formed as a result of several metabolic processes in the human body.

They are unstable molecules that interact with DNA and the proteins of the body cells and severely damage them. Arjuna bark extracts interact with these harmful free radicals and stabilizes them.

However, as with several other benefits, it is important to consult a doctor before using Arjuna herb as an antioxidant.

Antioxidant Activity

Infections

A scientific journal states that Arjunetin, a component of the bark of Arjuna tree, possesses important antibacterial activity against bacteria like Staphylococcus epidermis.

Helps Control Cholesterol Levels

Cholesterol is described as a waxy, fat-like compound that is found in most body tissues including the nerves and the blood.

Cholesterol helps make the outer coating of different cells, makes up the bile acids that continuously work to digest foods in the intestine and also allows the body to make hormones and Vitamin D.

High cholesterol increases the chances of stroke and cardiovascular disease. There are two types of cholesterol LDL (bad cholesterol) and HDL (good cholesterol).

When extremely high levels of cholesterol are present in blood, plaque – a thick, hard substance can form in the arteries of the heart. When the cholesterol collects in the heart, their lumen becomes extremely narrow, and the amount of blood entering your heart is insufficient.

Due to this, your heart needs to pump harder, causing various kinds of serious cardiovascular diseases, the worst of which is angina pectoris.

Helps Control Cholesterol Levels

Arjuna can help lower the levels of cholesterol as much as 59%. People taking Arjuna preparation saw their LDL ( bad cholesterol) levels plummet by an average of 19.6%. In animal studies with immensely high blood fats, LDL levels dropped from 393 to 152, after 59 days.

That’s a whopping 59 percent drop. Plus, HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol) increased.

The bark of the Arjuna plant when taken in smooth powder form has several beneficial properties. This can easily dissolve the cholesterol that accumulates in the coronary artery of the heart and reduce the possibility of heart attacks.

In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, Arjuna herb has been used as a “health-harmonizer”. But it is immensely necessary to consult a doctor or a pharmacist before using Arjuna herb as an Ayurvedic medicine.

My wife (50 years of age) is having High BP problem. It goes to 160/105 sometime. She is curently taking one tablet of Amlodipine+Telmisartan 5mg+40 mg daily in the morning as advised by the doctor. I read your article and found it is very informative and useful. I also heard about the Arjuna bark that it is very good in controlling the HBP . What would you suggest to control my wife’s high blood pressure?

    • Mukta Agrawal says:

Hello Rajesh, Yes Arjuna does help in Bp and I suggest you to give her Arjuna – 1 capsule daily for 2 months and follow a low salt diet and review

    Hi Vijay,
Ive been diagnosed as have coranary artery disease (from a stress echo cardiogram) and Left ventricle systolic disfunction <40%. January last year I had a serious bilateral pulmonary embolism . Apparently caused by DVT in my left leg. I was instructed by the doctor to inject with tinzaparin(heparin) . I did this for 4/5 months. This medication was horrible ! My hair thinned etc… Since June last year Ive been taking arjuna bark powder almost daily . Im recovering slowly. I still have the hypertension and High pulse rate.
My question , and concern , is that I was told that Arjuna was an astringent by an ayurvedic practitioner , and that I should be careful with it seeing that Ive recently been critically ill with thrombosis… Your saying its a blood thinner though? … What Im doing to offset this 'apparent' side effect, is lots of raw garlic daily. Also various blood vessel. dilators' (eg: beetroot, pomegranate , l'arginine etc) . Im also taking a lot of hawthorn (teas, berries etc) .
Im also starting to use chelators (eg, chlorella, coriander and just recently I acquired some EDTA powder). Im trying to be as proactive as I can in fixing this problem without using 'big pharma' meds.
Any Suggestions or advice on my approach ?
    Regards,
    Adrian

    • Mukta Agrawal says:

Hello Adrian Roe, I am sorry but I feel that you should not be self-prescribing the supplements to your self as each supplement definitely has its own interactions, I would advise if you can visit some expert and take them in a correct manner it will be helping in your condition in a better manner, Also 1000 mg of Arjuna has not shown any kind of side effects and has shown good significant results in CAd patients. Now about it being a blood thinner is not a side effect which you need to worry until and unless you are on any kind of blood thinner. Now since you suffered a bilateral pulmonary embolism – We need to understand was this happened along with you doing Arjuna treatment as Arjuna being blood thinner it should have not happened also we need to take a lot of care of your other diet part as well, Because many times what all you eat plays a big difference, Now when you say that You are taking dilators, Please try and understand that taking multiple blood thinners and along with that dilators can increase the blood flow and can cause more trouble as well, So please do not self medicate. I would definitely like to help you if you can share your wake- up to sleep routine along with your complete set of blood parameters and medications can email me at updates@inlifehealthcare.com

  4. Reg Walsh says:

Dear Mukta: My concern is lowering blood pressure which is not too bad in fact. A little high. I take a half aspirin once a day and cardedilol in a low dosage following insertion of a stent two years ago. Recently I added niacin on a doctor’s advice and also added beetroot juice and cinnamon of my own volition. I feel fine and have my next doctor’s appointment in 6 weeks. My question: Am I overdoing it by adding Arjuna to my list of natural medications? My goal is to stop taking the pharma drugs. I am highly impressed by your knowledge and expertise and trust your advice to steer me along your healthy road using nature as a guide-post.

    • Mukta Agrawal says:

Hello Reg Walsh, Firstly let me be grateful to you for believing in me, You are doing the right thing by shifting your focus from pharma to natural things. Adding Arjuna to your routine is the correct decision. It will help you slowly come out of your aspirin as well.

I strongly believe that natural remedies and a good lifestyle (diet and exercise) are the way to go for good health as you age. I avoid taking antibiotics and haven’t done so for the past 2 years. In fact I have not fallen sick even once in the last 2 years after I made some lifestyle changes (touch wood). I am a believer in ayurvedic medicine and this information is very helpful.
